Is it time to repair or replace your tile roof?

Have you ever wondered if your roof is in perfect condition when most of the time you are only able to see the inside? You are in luck, we are here to help you and give you some tips on how to know if your roof needs to be repaired or replaced.

These are the first things to look for when you are not able to check the top of your roof,

  1. Stains on interior ceilings or walls. Usually, when water is leaking through, you’ll notice some stains or discoloration on walls or ceilings. Sometimes the leakage doesn’t go through all the layers of the roof, however, your roof’s plywood may be allowing moisture into your home, which leads to the stains. Replacing your roof will solve this problem.
  2. Look at your attic or highest level ceiling after a rainstorm, this is when most of the leaks come out if there is damage to your roof. With leaks, it doesn’t always mean that you’ll need a full roof replacement, however, make sure to reach out to experts for assistance and guidance.
  3. If you notice that your deck roof is sagging, that might be a point of concern. A roof deck should remain straight instead of sagging downwards, this might be because it is wet from leaking moisture. If localized early, you may be able to avoid a complete roof replacement.
  4. You can also look for blistering or peeling in the exterior paint. If your attic is poorly ventilated, increased humidity can build up near the roofline. This might be the reason why your paint peels or blisters. (This may also be an indication that your gutter system is failing.)
  5. If you have an attic, make sure to check the conditions after a rainstorm. Rain could be getting into your attic, then you might only need to replace some flashing. However, a porous underlayment might also be the reason and you’ll probably need a roof replacement.
